Whether you want an easy stroll through the fall woods, a strenuous 6-mile hike, or something in between, we have a hike for you. Easy, moderate, and difficult hikes will take place on various trails in Golden Gate Canyon State Park. Your hike will include 8-10 hikers and will be led by a Hike Volunteer.
Dogs on leashes are welcome! If you plan to bring Fido, please indicate so on your registration materials. Also, please indicate your hike preference as the hikes meet at different times.
When you register, please indicate your hike preference, as the hikes meet at different times.
Hike times are staggered so that all of the hiking groups will be back at the Red Barn Group Picnic Area in time for the after-hike party to enjoy great food and beverages, door prizes, awards for top-fundraisers, and entertainment.
Hike Check-In Times
Difficult 9:00 am (6-9 miles with some steep sections)
Moderate 9:30 am (3-5 miles with some steep sections).
Easy 10:30 am (1-2 miles with a few hills)
Hikers should plan to arrive at Golden Gate Canyon State Park prior to the hike check-in time indicated on their registration. Please refer to the directions to determine how long it will take to get from your starting point to Golden Gate Canyon State Park.
Directions to your specific trail head parking will be emailed to you by September 1st.
Once you arrive at the entrance booth to the park, you will be greeted by a Hike for Youth volunteer. They will provide you with directions for parking and other important information. The regular Colorado State Parks visitor’s fee will be waived for Hike for Youth participants.
At check-in: You can turn in any pledges not collected online, meet up with any friends you plan to hike with, and meet your assigned Hike Volunteer. If you form a hiking team, you can hike together, so make sure that each team member chooses the same hike difficulty level when they register. Individual hikers will be matched up with a group of 8-10 other hikers in their difficulty level along with a Hike Volunteer.
Please follow all park rules as well as general Leave No Trace principles while participating in the Hike for Youth.
